First Day of Summer Sun Bento

Today is Summer Solstice, also known as Midsummer, also known as Litha
and I made a Sun bento to celebrate the first day of Summer.
I had the perfect foods for this bento. The Butternut Squash Souffle was the perfect size, shape, and color to make the sun, and I had some Yellow Pepper in the refrigerator that I sliced to make the sun rays.
  • Sun (Butternut Squash Souffle)
  • Sun Rays (Yellow Pepper)
  • Mr. Sun's Face (Plum Amazins and Rosemary)
  • Small Tomatoes
  • Cherries
  • Fresh Baby Spinach

Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun, Please Shine Down On Me!

This was a delicious and healthy lunch, and it put a smile on my face. Now if only we weren't having a heat wave, then I could have enjoyed it outside instead of stuck in the house with the AC on...
Happy First Day of Summer!

  1. So pretty! Didn't get a chance to show Leslie this one, but I'm sure she'd have loved it, too! Such a cute, happy sun! And I remember that song! ...Oops... Now I'm singing it in my head. ....AAAAUGH! ;-P
...I also caved and put the A/C on for the first time just now. Managed with just fan during the day, but it's HOT in here. Definitely time to cool things off.

    1. LOL, Sorry for getting the song stuck in your head. I glad you like the Sun Bento, and I'm glad you're staying cool with your AC.

  2. Happy solstice! Another beautiful, yummy-looking bento! Summer seems to finally have come to the BC Rockies - shhh, I don't want to scare it back into hiding.

    1. Thank you. Happy Solstice to you as well. I hope you enjoy your summer! :)
