Nesting Bird Bento

Spring is coming to New England! I have seen so many birds gathering materials to build their nests in my back yard. Every year birds nest in the same spot under our awning, and last year I was able to watch baby birds learn to fly from the deck. What a magical sight!
Anyway, in honor of the nesting birds I have made a Nesting Bird Bento!
I took the time to make a nest out of shredded carrots, but when I moved the bento box closer to the window so I could take a better picture... well the nest didn't stay together as well as I hoped. Oh well, it's still pretty good.
  • 'Tree Leaves' (Fresh Spinach)
  • 'Nest' (Shredded Carrot)
  • 'Bird' (Udi's GF Multigrain Bread and Mustard)
  • Pickle Pinwheels (Pickle slice spread with mustard and rolled up. I cut it in half to make two pinwheels. I held them together with a leaf pick)
  • 'Flower' (Thick Cut Deli Turkey)
  • 'Ants on a Log' (Celery, Teddie Chunky Peanut Butter W/Flax, Plum Amazins)
  • 'Bird Food' (Strawberries, Blackberries, Blueberries, and Pistachio Nuts)

  1. Such a wonderful interpretation of your theme! I think it all looks great. But I can relate to items shifting when moving them during photographing.

    1. Why thank you. :) Yes it's hard to keep everything together perfectly if you need to move it for better lighting. I've taken pictures on my bentos before, and not realized that it was messed up until I was already writing the blog. Oh well.
