Last Friday, my fiance and I died some eggs for Ostara (A few days late because we were busy) and so I decided to make a bento using one of my died eggs.

AWW! It came out so cute and pretty and colorful and tasty! X-D
ReplyDeleteWhat technique did you use for decorating the egg?
Thank you Julie. To color the hard boiled egg I first drew on it using a white/wax crayon, then I dipped the egg into the dye. I had to keep passing the egg back and forth between the purple and the blue dye to get the right color. (In person the egg was a lot deeper purple then in the pictures). I just used one of those egg dying kits that come with little dye pellets you dissolve in water and white vinegar.
DeleteOoooh! I forgot they supplied a wax crayon!
DeleteMy neighbor growing up used to melt wax somehow and draw with a toothpick, SO detailed! She passed away a long while back, but I wish I had pictures of the beautiful eggs she did each year! <3
Yours came out awesome! ^_^
Thank you
DeletePacking things in plastic eggs is a great idea! I don't know why I'm so suprised--that's what they're for--but I never would have thought of that on my own.
ReplyDeleteMy father got pretty involved with hot wax and toothpicks making fancy designs on the eggs he dyed. I think the color on yours is very pretty.
Thank you. Yeah Plastic Easter eggs are made for putting little treats into them, but it's not something you see in many bentos. Maybe I'll start a trend.
