Snowy Bento

We had the threat of snow the other day... but since it didn't come I thought I'd make a Super Snowy Bento. I'm glad the snow didn't come yet because it's not even winter... but I do love the look of snowflakes and the first snow fall is always so magical... but a snowy bento is even better.... and instead of shoveling it off the driveway.... I'll be shoveling it into my mouth! LOL
I'm very proud of how well this bento came out. It would be great if I could win some sort of award for it.... oh wait... I get to EAT IT!!!! Hahahaha, that's my reward for all my hard work... By the way, it took me about 45 minutes to make this.... so pardon me for being a little crazy about it. ;)
This is my Snowflake Sandwich extraordinaire!
  • Snowflake Sandwich (Udi's Gluten Free White Bread, Mustard, Spinach, Carrots, Tomato, Turkey. Cut with a pretty star cutter because I don't have a large snowflake cutter)
  • Snowflake Cheese (I used a mini Snowflake cutter)
  • Pirate Booty Snow (Aged White Cheddar)
  • All on a bed of Fresh Spinach (The grass under the snow)
This is the sandwich before I snowflakeafied it. You can see all the colorful goodness inside. I love my bentos to have a lot of color... even if you aren't supposed to see it in the final picture... lol
Here is my Snowman Tier... I spent a lot of time making that Hard-boiled egg snowman... not including the time it took to make the hard-boiled egg.
  • Hard-boiled Egg Snowman (Chocolate Jimmy 'eyes and mouth', Cherry Tomato 'hat and coat' with Pomagranate Seed 'pompom', Baby Carrot 'arms and nose', Sitting on a bed of fresh spinach 'grass')
  • Pirate Booty 'Snow'
  • Clementine with Cheese 'Snowflake'
  • Mini Marshmallows and Cadbury Chocolate Balls 'Snowballs' in my blue star cup 'Snowflake'
  • Peeps Snowman
Here you can see the detail on my hard-boiled egg Snowman. Like his little red coat? It looks more like a vest.
Now I'm going to enjoy my Snowy Bento with my favorite Snowman! I named him 'Noman' when I was a kid, and I freaking love him. He's from the cutest and most beautiful Cartoon Movie called 'The Snowman'.

The whole Movie is on Youtube and you can watch it in parts. Here is The Snowman Part 1 If you want to skip right to the cute movie go to 00:33 to skip over the guy talking. This movie is based on the book 'The Snowman' by Raymond Briggs. It is fully instrumental with no words except for the song 'Walking in the Air' a beautiful song that I recommend to everyone.

  4. Thank you Julie. It's all thanks to you and letting me borrow your cookie cutters. Or else I wouldn't have been able to make it look so nice.

  5. This bento is awesome! And what a great movie to watch while you eat it. It is a tradition each December for us to watch it at my children's godfather's house when we visit to see his collection of over 1000 snowmen. Thanks for sharing!
